Xbox gamers have a lot to look forward to at E3 and through the rest of the year, at least according to Xbox boss, Phil Spencer. Ahead of next week’s Microsoft briefing, Spencer shared his excitement for 2015 on Xbox Wire, claiming it will be an “exceptional” year for Xbox gamers, despite the plethora of game delays.
Spencer reminded readers about the upcoming Xbox exclusives still set for 2015, including Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Plus, with Fable Legends, the possibility of a Gears of War remaster, and Microsoft’s promise of a new IP reveal, it does seem this will be a strong year.
Another big factor in Spencer’s claim about this being the best year for Xbox is the support coming between Xbox and Windows 10, which is something Spencer and Microsoft have been hyping for months. The first aspect of that synergy – the Windows 10 app for Xbox and game streaming capabilities – is set to release on July 29th, with greater integration coming sometime later.
In his post, Spencer also reiterated that Crackdown, Quantum Break, and Scalebound will all be “front and center” at gamescom, along with “new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10.” Based on that, it seems part of what makes this year exceptional in the eyes of Spencer is the fact that the gaming giant will be announcing and revealing multiple games for 2016, along with their release of a few highly-anticipated titles.
However, it’s important to remember that gaming executives often make these types of claims about their games and consoles in an effort to build excitement. In the end, the true worth of 2015 will be determined by gamers and their wallets.
