Spencer offered the update on his home gaming situation after a fan inquired about the Xbox team’s reveal plans in the current world. Woggerman1974 asked what the challenges he and the folks at Xbox fast when it comes to presenting their “next-gen vision/events.”

Not one to let unique questions pass him by, Spencer responded and explained that sometimes it is difficult to hold information back. He stressed the importance of patience when it comes to revealing new information to fans, which he believes is the most difficult part of the whole situation. He also stressed that his impatience has nothing to do with the current world situation, but rather it comes down to his own excitement.

But in case there was any doubt about where the Xbox team is at, Spencer revealed that he is 100% on Xbox Series X. He is playing games, seeing new features installed, and even looking at some stuff that is in the future.

Last fans had heard, Spencer had an Xbox Series X (at the time the name was still a mystery) at home and was messing around with some product. Now it seems that he is using it as his home console, trying out new games but more importantly keeping up to date on some of his favorite current-gen games (Destiny is likely part of that rotation).

The head of Xbox playing the new console might not seem like much, but it is one of the usual milestones on the way to a console launch. If Phil Spencer is playing games and checking out new tech, it lends credence to the company’s claims that things are on track for the Xbox Series X’s release date in holiday 2020.

The other interesting bit that Spencer offers but doesn’t elaborate on is that the team gave itself room to improve based on feedback. This sounds as though the slow drip of info about the Xbox Series X is meant to allow Microsoft to pivot if a feature or decision isn’t well received. Granted, nothing thus far sounds as deal-breaking as the restrictive Xbox One pitch, but there may have already been some changes to Xbox’s plan that fans don’t know about. Come July, though, it’s very likely that a lot of the finer details about the Xbox Series X, like the price, will be set in stone.
