In an update to the trailer, which indicated the course creator would not be available on the Nintendo Switch at all, 2K Sports has released a statement indicating that the mode will not be available at launch. This indicates that the Switch version of the game will receive an update later on with the mode included. Nintendo Switch owners, who are already upset about the lack of games for the Switch console this year, have not been given a date for the mode’s release and no reason was given as to why it would initially not be available.

PGA Tour 2K21 was announced in May, and looks to be as in depth as 2K’s previous entries in the series. The course creator allows for vastly different courses to be made within the game. As the trailer shows, courses aren’t simply limited to imitating real life locations, as players can design courses as they please, meaning that some pretty bizarre concepts can be applied if desired.
Along with typical PGA Tour course options such as trees, sand traps, and water hazards, the mode will feature many animals that can be placed throughout, including in the way of the course path. In addition, players can dress their courses with lighthouses, planes, and large amounts of crowds for aesthetic. The courses made can be shared online, downloaded to a console, and played offline, as well.
The news of the Nintendo Switch version missing the course creator at launch is no doubt disappointing. The game will still have all the other features as the console counterparts including the in depth PGA Tour 2K21 career mode. Being portable, the Nintendo Switch seems like the perfect home for such a mode, as Super Mario Maker 2 fans can attest.
PGA Tour 2K21 releases on August 21 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
