Fans were shocked when late in 2019 Pewdiepie announced that he’d be taking a break in January. It was surprising due to the fact that Pewdiepie had released videos near-daily for years. The day finally came on January 15, when Pewdiepie’s video “It’s been real, but I’m out!” confirmed that he was taking a break from making videos. At the time, Pewdiepie said he didn’t want to take time off from making videos, but still felt it was necessary.

Pewdiepie’s new video is notable only in that it’s exactly the sort of video that the Youtuber has been releasing forever. It’s an impressive 15-minute long video which is almost entirely dedicated to reviewing memes posted to the popular Pewdiepie submissions subreddit.
Outside of the dozens of memes Pewdiepie mentions over the 15 minutes, he does mention a few meta issues, too. At the start of the video, he says there will be at least one change going forward, which is that he’s grown out his beard. He also pointed out how much more a mess he looked like before he went on a break.
Pewdiepie also has a bit of a heart-to-heart with his fans at the end of the video. He talks briefly about how his break was very “healthy and good” and that he appreciates his fans’ patience while they waited. While Pewdiepie hasn’t talked about any specific reasons for taking a break, he does mention how tired and frustrated he looks in his last video. Pewdiepie has previously had controversies with Youtube as well as the enthusiast media before.
In summary, Pewdiepie is back and ready to start making videos again. The Youtuber confirms that he’s going to work hard to produce on-brand Pewdiepie daily videos again from here on, though he does make an expression while saying it hinting that he may be more comfortable taking short breaks as necessary going forward. While he may be adding more beard to his videos, it doesn’t seem like anything else will change. It’s the same Pewdiepie back with more content that his fans love.
