PewDiePie is a YouTube content creator. Known for his reaction and Let’s Play videos, many fans enjoy watching his content. Over the years, he has amassed a massive following on the platform, reaching over 110 million subscribers. This makes him the first content creator to reach the milestone and one of the few people to earn the red diamond Youtube play button. While some might think that PewDiePie would keep this mounted on his wall for years to come, he instead gave it away as a gift.

On October 25, PewDiePie chose to tell fans his reasons for giving away the YouTube award. When explaining his choice to gift one of his most impressive awards to a fan, he revealed that he didn’t like putting much value into physical items. “I like putting value into action,” he explained. He went on to state that most people know what he has accomplished on the platform anyway.
While PewDiePie seems to have no regrets about giving away his red diamond YouTube play button, he quickly pointed out that he still appreciated receiving it. He understood that the plaque represented the incredible growth he had achieved since starting on YouTube in 2010. However, he stated that “at the end of the day, it just doesn’t seem important to keep it.” This shouldn’t come as a surprise to fans, as he frequently gives back to the community. Recently, PewDiePie made a $1.5 million donation to charities.
While PewDiePie wanted to give away the red diamond YouTube play button, he wasn’t content to give it to anybody. He hoped to find the right person that would appreciate the award. For starters, the content creator wanted to gift it to a fan of his channel. Luckily, it seems that he found the perfect candidate, as he revealed that he had sent the award to a fan known as LizardLava. When discussing his decision, he stated that unfortunately, he could not gift every subscriber the plaque, “so it made sense to send it to LizardLava.”
Since receiving the esteemed award, LizardLava has made a thank you video. In the clip, he expounded on how much he enjoyed watching PewDiePie’s popular content over the years. In addition, he talked about how incredible it was to have something so rare.
