The “Saturday Night Live” cast member served as a reporter of sorts at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta with “SNL” off this past weekend. Davidson did a deep dive into the matchup, offering terrific insight about … nah, just kidding. He turned the pay-per-view event into a roast session.

PAUL VS. ASKREN: How much did each fighter earn?

Davidson ripped both fighters and the general state of boxing ahead of the Paul-Askren bout. His full comments:

Tonight, we have a bout between Ben Askren — who I don’t know who that is still, and I’ve been reading up on him all week — and Jake Paul. And, you know, they both suck but, you know, at least somebody’s gonna get hurt. Now back to you guys in the booth, some real announcers over there.

Unfortunately for viewers hoping to see a competitive battle, the Paul-Askren fight lasted only slightly longer than Davidson’s monologue. Paul made quick work of Askren, dropping him with a hard right hand in the first round. Askren struggled to regain his footing after taking the shot to the head, and the referee stopped the fight at the 1:59 mark.

Paul moved to 3-0 in his boxing career, though his three victories have come against YouTuber AnEsonGib, former NBA player Nate Robinson and Askren, who was always known as more of a wrestler than a striker. He can likely keep earning big paychecks as a novelty act, but if he wants to be taken seriously, he will have to face a real boxer at some point.

Regardless of what Paul does next, Davidson will probably still think he sucks.
