In the excitement, Carroll strayed too close too the field and was taken out by the official, who threw a flag once he regained his footing.
The touchdown counted, but the Seahawks had to kick off from their 20 after the 15-yard penalty was enforced.
The NFL cracked down on players and coaches getting too close to the sideline after Steelers coach Mike Tomlin interfered with a kick return by the Ravens’ Jacoby Jones in 2013. While Tomlin was fined $100,000 for his infraction, Carroll was just given a personal foul penalty, although he’ll probably be the butt of some jokes when the Seahawks review the tape on “Tell the Truth Monday.”
