Kokoskov, who worked with the Suns from 2008 to 2013, will be the first European-born head coach in NBA history following Wednesday’s announcement. The Suns fired Earl Watson after a 0-3 start to the season and announced they would not be retaining Jay Triano as the head man after he served the final 79 games as the interim boss. “We are thrilled to bring Valley resident Igor Kokoskov back to Arizona as head coach of the Phoenix Suns,” said general manager Ryan McDonough....

The Phoenix Suns are the latest team connected to a possible trade for Gasol, as they have expressed interest in the big man, according to an ESPNLosAngeles.com report. Previously, the Lakers had discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers about a trade for Gasol that would send Andrew Bynum and his partially-guaranteed deal to the Lakers, the report says. Of course, that deal fell apart and the Cavaliers eventually shipped Bynum to the Chicago Bulls in exchange Luol Deng....

According to AccuWeather, the same powerful storm that brought blizzard conditions and record breaking cold to the central U.S. has also created a major lake-effect snow event in New York. Conditions near Buffalo have turned deadly, with at least seven known fatalities reported in Erie County, according to the Associated Press. New York Governor Kathy Hochul tweeted on Sunday that there are more than 200 National Guardsmen on the ground in Western New York, and she plans to deploy more....

Demonstrators caused massive damage and set fires in another night of a chaos in the streets of Minneapolis. The angry crowds even managed to overtake the Third Precinct station after police evacuated it “in the interest of the safety” of the personnel inside, according to a statement by authorities. The protesters eventually entered the building forcibly and set it on fire. The city of Minneapolis’ Twitter account posted a tweet shortly after midnight Friday urging people to retreat from the area because of “unconfirmed reports” that gas lines were cut under the precinct....

Kenosha, Wisconsin, officers shot Blake, 29, multiple times on Sunday, as he opened the door of a parked car. He was transported to a local hospital in serious condition and video of the shooting went viral, prompting protests and clashes between demonstrators and officers. The Wisconsin Department of Justice opened an investigation into the shooting and Governor Tony Evers condemned the officers’ actions. Evers noted Blake wasn’t the first Black man or person to be shot or “mercilessly killed” by law enforcement and said he stands with those demanding justice....

It was the 23rd career WTA title for the two-time Wimbledon champion. Kvitova broke Buzarnescu in the fourth game of the deciding set and held her serve for a 4-1 lead.
